Winter Thrills for Olympic Wannabes

About this time of year, I’m always hit with a crazy combination of cabin fever and recklessness. I start looking for adventure activities that always makes my husband intone, “I think you need to make an informed decision about this event.” Inspired by the Sochi Olympics, I’ve found the perfect action venue to quench my thirst for winter thrills.

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be a comet, the Lake Placid Bobsled Adventure is for you. Bobsled rides, with a professional driver and brakeman, begin at the half-mile point on the same track used by Olympic racers. According to their promo, “you’ll feel the rumble of the sled thundering down the track. You’ll speed through one turn, bank high on the next one and pick up speed on the straightaway. You’ll go faster than you’re allowed to drive a car through town. Then you’ll get to the bottom and want to do it again.”
Sounds excellent to me!

For your bravery, you will be rewarded
• Sliding from Start 4
• Bobsled lapel pin
• 4×6 commemorative team photo
• T-Shirt
• Membership in the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation
• 20% off your second bobsled ride

Reservations are recommended but require at least 48 hour advance notice. If you do not have a reservation, tickets may be
purchased in person during ride sessions, although space can be limited. Track & weather conditions permitting.
