With miles of crystal clear waters, spectacular mountain sunsets and incredible views, there’s a reason people know Pocahontas County, WV as “Nature’s Mountain Playground.” Enter now for a chance to win a mountain escape full of outstanding scenery, sweet champagne and the best of Pocahontas County, an outdoor wonderland just waiting for you to explore!
Pocahontas County has a new contest for an exciting two-night getaway. Winners will enjoy a two night stay with two breakfasts each mornings, a bottle of champagne and a farm tour at The Inn at Mountain Quest. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy hiking, horseback riding; fly-fishing, or more leisurely activities like badminton, horse shoes and picnicking. At night, enjoy their two-story library (something I want to see) or try star gazing in their glass domed observatory.
Driving through the region, you’ll notice a very large, world-record smashing-sized telescope in Pocahontas County. In order for the Green Bank Telescope to perform its job, it needs a quiet, peaceful place in which to exist – free from harmful radio frequency broadcasts. There are over 13,000 square miles of land in this area designated as the National Quiet Zone. Contest winners will learn more about it during the National Radio Astronomy Observatory regular tour. (Two complementary tickets.)
