New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse (and the third tallest in the United States) awaits you at Pacific and Rhode Island Avenues in Atlantic City (walking distance from Showboat Casino).

The adventurous can make an amazing climb up 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse to the observation level and enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic City skyline.

The lighthouse’s recent multi-million dollar restoration also includes a stunning replica of the Lightkeeper’s dwelling, an educational museum, gift shop and expansive grounds. You’ll come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens, first lit in 1857, in the original Oil House.

On “Wacky Wednesdays,” family fun is the order of the day as Absecon Lighthouse features themed stations of crafts and activities from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Kids can decorate a dinosaur egg, create their own superhero or villain, decorate a flower pot, create a popsicle stick sleigh ornament, make a paper-plate aquarium, make a crown or coat of arms, and design a mermaid or treasure map.

Themes include:
July 9: Pirates & Mermaids
July 16: Fables and Fairy Tales
July 23: Christmas in July
July 30: The Salty Sea (Sea Life)
August 6: The Gifts of the Garden
August 13: Superheroes & Villains
August 20: Dinosaurs

Admission is free and includes all activities.

A climb to the top of the Lighthouse is $4 per child, ages 4 – 12. Adult supervision is required; adult admission to climb is $7.
