With 88 years of performing under their belts, the world famous Harlem Globetrotters know something about thrilling millions of fans, all the while innovating the game in exciting new ways. Last year, the Globetrotters did something unparalleled in the history of sports and entertainment, letting fans vote on new rules to be used in actual games. It was so much fun, they are doing it again, and there are cool new rules to choose from on our 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour.

You can get your chance to see the zaniness which is sure to result during their four new shows at the Wildwoods Convention Center from August 6-9, with games nightly at 7 p.m.

Learn to play like the Globetrotters at a special 2-hour Skills Clinic at the Convention Center. Designed for boys & girls ages 6-12, the clinic will be led by Globetrotter stars. Clinics take place every game day (Aug 6-9) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants do not need prior basketball experience. A spot in the clinic costs $49.99 and includes a voucher for one complimentary ticket to any of the four games in Wildwood (valued up to $45). Space is limited.

Everyone is invited to bring blankets, chairs, picnic dinners, friends and family to the celebration.

There will also be a concession stand run by local food vendor, Pudgy’s Street Food. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at this event.

Wildwood Beach 2014 Ultimate Beach Frisbee Tournament

07/26/2014 – 07/27/2014

Frisbee is supposed to be one of the easiest games to play, but the version played by the teams at Wildwood’s Ultimate Beach Frisbee Tournament bears no resemblance to my backyard fumbling.

It’s the largest beach Frisbee tournament in the world, and has gone international with the addition of The Boracay Dragons. Formed in 2002, the team is composed of athletes from the beautiful island of Boracay with some of the best ultimate players from around the Philippines. The team finished with a silver medal twice, first in Brazil 2007 against Australia and the last one against Team USA in Italy 2011. This US tour is part of their preparation as they represent the Philippines in next year’s World Beach Championships in Dubai.

While there are serious games being played in the actual tournament, a fun atmosphere is always going on. There is a beach party and beer garden, and a division of play that focuses on fun instead of competition.

The annual event is held on the beach at the Wildwood Beach Patrol Headquarters at Schellenger Avenue.

Sat: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sun: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
A 4-on-4 team competition for players of all levels, ages 18 & over.
More than 400 teams from all over the country compete in the tournament.

Free to spectators
